Having just come to the shocking realization that January is over. I started looking at the conferences I’ll be participating in this year. I wanted to find out from all of you where we might cross paths. Here’s what I’ve got so far:
AJHP’s Art & Science of Health Promotion. I’ve been going to this conference for years. I’m so happy that it will again be a stand alone conference and on Beautiful Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in March. In April I’ll be in Austin, Texas at ACSM’s Health & Fitness Expo. Along with IAWHP’s pre-conference it’ll be great! ACSM’s annual scientific meeting will be almost in my neighborhood the first few days of June.
I wonder what conferences you’ll be attending the first half of this year? Inquiring minds want to know…
NEWS RELEASE INTERNATIONAL WELLNESS DAY MONDAY 19 JULY, 2010 NATIONAL WELLNESS CONFERENCE STEVENS POINT, WISCONSIN
Celebrating the Globalization of Wellness. Always wondered how different it would be operating as a Wellness practitioner and delivering your specific Wellness program/service in another country? Your chance to find out without the travel costs is on Monday 19 July at the NWC. Join the 2010 International NWC attendees for a day of learning and engagement. Grasp the opportunity to hear, see, feel and taste Wellness as it exists around the globe.
For those not involved in the NWC certificate programs being held on Monday 19th July, members of the International Wellness Community are hosting the International Wellness Day to celebrate and learn about Wellness as it is expressed and practiced in the International arena. All NWC delegates are invited to attend and participate. The cost of attendance is ‘attendees to bring food which reflects their nation’s culture for the ‘Pot Luck’ lunch’.
We are also seeking volunteers to contribute to the day by delivering a short presentation on Wellness as they perceive and experience it in their country, or on a particular Wellness program that they are involved with in their ‘part of the world’ (the USA is International to all who live elsewhere). By sharing our stories and ideas we aim to strengthen for all Wellness practitioners worldwide the common bond of living and working in the same paradigm.
To ensure the success of the day we are therefore also seeking the assistance of a small group of people to assist in planning the program for the day. The work of this committee should involve a few Skype conversations only. Apart from the program format, issues to be discussed by the planning committee will be language assistance for LOTE presenters and the “Pot Luck” lunch.
If you are interested in being part of the organizing committee, or are willing to deliver a short presentation, please contact Rod Lees (Committee Administrator) by email at iwd@nationalwellness.org Nominations for the committee close Monday 22 February.
In an effort to do my part to spread a good viral message, here goes: Don Ardell said that Nathan Bupp shared the following video message with him in hopes that it will “go viral”. It’s less than two minutes so please stop what you’re doing now and watch this brief message.
Here in the Washington DC metro area we have a gray cold & rain today. I found a video that clears away the gray at least for a few minutes. Enjoy the moment.
The weekly webinars on wellness and health promotion have really gotten some good feedback from IDWellness community members and others out in the field trying to keep up on all the information needed to stay on top of their profession. As for me, I’m so lucky to have an awesome staff who help me keep straight on which end is up .
This morning, I added several new speaker/topics to the lineup, see below. Also, for those of you who are unable to attend the live events, you can always review the recorded archive here: Webinars.IDWellness.org.
